GREG HACKETT - DIRECTOR

About

Greg Hackett is a director and writer based in the UK. He found filmmaking through music, fronting a band before the pull of film-making proved to hard to ignore.

After his film about a friend attempting to cycle 100mph behind an old Ford Zephyr went viral, he began working exclusively with The New York Times Brand Studio, directing over 30 branded films.

He founded the production company Spindle in 2014, and led the companies growth from a camera and backpack to top twenty UK production company (televisual magazine), exiting in 2026 to concentrate solely on his directing career.

His film work has spanned commercials, original documentaries and branded films, earning recognition at the One Show, D&AD, Cannes Lions and British Arrows among others.

In 2025, his film Hey Jude for Adidas brought his most significant recognition to date - a Frank Budgen Award nomination for Best Director at the British Arrows, Gold for Best Director at the Creative Circles, Gold for Best Direction at the Clios, and further golds at Cannes, D&AD, One Show and more. The film cemented a reputation built on cinematic detail, authentic performances and an instinct for the relationship between frames and music.

Now directing with Park Pictures in the US and UK, he is developing original writing alongside his commercial work. He is drawn to the spaces where a piece of work stops belonging to one category and starts belonging to the people who watch it.
